How Can I Help?

Volunteers

Volunteers form the backbone of the centre, they are essential in assisting in the day to day running of the centre

The role of the volunteer is interesting and varied, at times it is very busy, full of bustle, laughter and chat and then again it may be quiet, thoughtful, supporting and listening to those who call to the centre.

Can you open the door with a smile no matter what the weather is like, do you think you would feel comfortable listening to another person express their worries and concerns and of course it is really important that you know how to make really good tea and coffee.

We provide training to help equip you for this role, you become aware of how cancer can affect an individual or their family and your listening skills are improved. As for making tea and coffee I am sure that we cannot improve upon your own skills.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact

Phil Harford at 041 9805100 and we can arrange to meet and have a chat.

Volunteers – Drivers

The centre operates a limited Mini Bus service which is manned totally by volunteer drivers.   If you have a full D1 licence and 4 hours a month to spare we would be delighted to hear from you.   Interested?  to find out more about the role, please contact  Ann Tracey on 041 9805100 or 086 3870277

Sincere thanks to those who already give their time to this project, without your support many would not be in  a position to access the centre services.

Volunteers – Fundraising.

We always have a need for volunteers to assist with our many and varied fundraisers i.e.

Christmas Card stands
During the month of November and December we have card stands in the local shopping centres manned by 2 people for a maximum of two hours once a week. This is one of our major fundraisers and are deeply appreciative of all those who have helped us in the past.

Coach Leaders for the Women’s Mini Marathon
Two coach leaders are assigned to each coach and register all passengers, ensuring no one is left behind when the marathon is over. The role of the Coach Leader contributes greatly to the safety and smooth running of the day. This years Marathon will take place on Monday 2nd June 2008.

Car Boot Sale
Assist with the sorting of all donated items before the day. On the day assist with setting up the stalls and their displays. Helpers are also required to man the stalls for a couple of hours on the day.

Theatre Nights
On the night assistance with the ticket collection and sales is required.  Programme distribution and of course the inevitable “Raffle” ticket sales and many more.

If interested in any of the above, Please contact Ann Tracey at 041 9805100 or 0863870277 for further information.

Again, our sincere thanks to all who have assisted in so many ways in the past.
