Lymphoedema Awareness Programme

Lymphoedema can develop when excess fluid in the tissues is unable to drain away and causes swelling in the affected area. It is important to be aware that lymphoedema does not happen to everyone and modern surgical techniques mean that the percentage of people who develop lymphoedema has greatly reduced.

Our aim in the Gary Kelly Centre in conjunction with the physiotherapy and dietetics department of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda is to create an awareness of lymphoedema and to provide education and information on the topic in the hope of further reducing the incidence of lymphoedema.

All patients/clients who have an interest in lymphoedema or may have a possibility of developing lymphoedema are welcome to attend.
